A Brief History...

Born into a somewhat nomadic family, Kari grew up in the Caribbean where she was exposed to many different avenues of creativity. Before graduating from the Ontario College of Art (1991) in Toronto, she spent her final year in the renowned Florence program, which has continued to inform her encaustic practice. Having recently returned to Toronto from another year abroad, one of both global significance and personal resonance, her work has shifted once again to examine the human condition through animal portraiture with equal parts intensity and empathy.

  Join Ontario Society of Artists members Lori Ryerson & Kari Serrao at the historic McKay Art Centre in Unionville (city of Markham). Once the home of Group of Seven member F.H. Varley, the McKay Art Centre will feature the works from both these artists for a Holiday Art Sale. Lori Ryerson is a contemporary photographer, who specializes in landscape photograph and abstracts created out of the natural world. Kari Serrao is a painter, using both encaustic and oil, who examines the human condition through animal portraiture. Open House Reception on Saturday November 30, with refreshments. Daily from 2 pm to 8 pm, Sunday to 5 pm. This holiday give art! McKay Art Centre is located at 197 Main St., Unionville, ON
